| SLI Segmented Inventory Lookup |
Do you have difficulty finding the right inventory item when using F2-Lookup in Sales Invoicing? Do your inventory items vary only slightly in description because of size or color variations? With SLI - Segmented Inventory Lookup it is easy to lookup and choose from inventory items by creating segmented groupings.
SLI - Segmented Inventory Lookup changes the F2 lookup for Inventory items in the Enter Documents program of the Invoicing module. When the inventory item has "segments", it allows selections of one "segment" at a time. For example, the inventory item numbers for a dressmaker might be made of style, color and size as follows:
DRS105-BLUE -5 DRS105-BLUE -6 "DRS" is the department code. DRS105-GREEN -5 The first segment is the style number. DRS105-GREEN -6 The second segment is the color. DRS105-RED -5 The last segment is the size. DRS105-RED -6 DRS106-BLUE -5 DRS106-BLUE -6
The above list shows two style numbers "105" and "106". Each style has two colors and each color has two sizes. SLI - Segmented Inventory Lookup is not needed for the above inventory file, but if each style had 25 colors, and each color had 10 sizes, there would be 250 entries for each style.
Since you would have to page thru 250 entries between each style, it would be difficult to quickly find the exact style number.
With SLI - Segmented Inventory Lookup, only the first segment is displayed when the F2 key is pressed. Once you select the first segment, a new display allows you to select from the next segment, and so on. For the above example, the following selections would be displayed when F2 is pressed:
+==============+ | DRS105 | | DRS106 | +==============+
Once the style is selected, the colors for that style would be displayed. For example, if DRS105 is selected, you would see the following selections:
+=================+ | DRS105-BLUE | | DRS105-GREEN | +=================+
Once the color is selected, the sizes for that color would be displayed. For example, if DRS105-BLUE is selected, you would see the following selections:
+=================+ | DRS105-BLUE-5 | | DRS105-BLUE-6 | +=================+
Segments are separated by dashes. Each item in the first segment must have the same number of characters as every other item in the first segment.
Length of items in the second segment must be the same as the length of items in other second segments. Segment lengths do not have to be the same for first and second segments, etc.
Please Note: If you are using other enhanced lookups you must select the Peachtree Default Lookup to use SLI.
