| IWU Where Used Report |
Simplify the process of tracking what components go into which finished goods. These powerful reports will help make it easier to analyze how you are using raw materials, components, and subassemblies to put together your products.
With IWU - Where-Used Reports print three different types of detailed reports; Multilevel, Vertical, or Horizontal Where-Used Reports.
To print these reports select the Assembly Items Report option and select "W" from the option screen below:

The "Multilevel" format lists each place the component/assembly is used in a higher-level assembly until the highest level assembly defined is reached. Below is an example of a multilevel report:
+----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | WHERE USED SAMPLE REPORT - MULTI-LEVEL VIEW | | | |RUN DATE: 03/19/97 Software Professionals PAGE 1 | |RUN TIME: 8:25 AM Inventory Control | | Where-Used Report | |----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | COMPONENT/ASSEMBLY # REQUIRED IN HIGHER ASSEMBLY DESCRIPTION | | ---------------------- ---------------- ------------------ --------------------------| | | | PCARconnectors is the Lowest Level Component/Assembly. connectors - piston | | | | PCARconnectors 4.00 PCARpiston Piston | | PCARpiston 8.00 PCARBlock Engine Block | | PCARBlock 1.00 PCAREngine Engine | | PCAREngine 1.00 PCARCAR Car | | | | Subtotal: 32 | | | | PCARconnectors 2.00 PCARu-joint gear 1 u-joint gear 1 | | PCARu-joint gear 1 1.00 PCARu-joint u-joint | | PCARu-joint 2.00 PCARdrive assy drive assy | | PCARdrive assy 1.00 PCARtransmission Car Transmission | | PCARtransmission 1.00 PCARCAR Car | | | | Subtotal: 4 | | | | PCARconnectors is used in a total of 36 place(s) in the assemblies listed above. | +----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------+
A "Vertical" Where-Used report is also available which shows the same information as the multi-level report, but this report shows where the assembly/component are used and the quantity required at the lowest level before listing higher levels of assemblies.
+---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------+ |RUN DATE: 03/19/97 Software Professionals PAGE 1| |RUN TIME: 8:25 AM Inventory Control | | Where-Used Report | +---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | ITEM COMPONENTS & HIGHER ASSEMBLIES/ # REQUIRED DESCRIPTION | |----------- ------------------------------------------ --------------------------| | | | PCARconnectors is the Lowest Level Component/Assembly. connectors - piston | | 1 PCARpiston 4.00 Piston | | 2 PCARu-joint gear 1 2.00 u-joint gear 1 | | | | | | PCARpiston is Item 1 on page 1 Piston | | 3 PCARBlock 8.00 Engine Block | | | | PCARBlock is Item 3 on page 1 Engine Block | | 4 PCAREngine 1.00 Engine | | | | PCAREngine is Item 4 on page 1 Engine | | 5 PCARCAR 1.00 Car | | | | PCARu-joint gear 1 is Item 2 on page 1 u-joint gear 1 | | 6 PCARu-joint 1.00 u-joint | | | | PCARu-joint is Item 6 on page 1 u-joint | | 7 PCARdrive assy 2.00 drive assy | | | | PCARdrive assy is Item 7 on page 1 drive assy | | 8 PCARtransmission 1.00 Car Transmission | | | | PCARtransmission is Item 8 on page 1 Car Transmission | | 9 PCARCAR 1.00 Car | | | | | +---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------+
The "Horizontal" report format shows each successive higher assembly level to which the component/assembly belongs. In each case an item number is assigned to the part to ease tracing of successive levels. The number required always refers to the number of the assembly that goes directly into the higher-level assembly.
